■Nagasaki Islands Study (NaIS) とは / About Nagasaki Islands Study (NaIS)

Nagasaki Islands Study (NaIS)は、離島である長崎県五島市における地域コホート研究です。

The Nagasaki Islands Study has been conducted under a population-based open cohort design in Goto city, located in the remote islands of Nagasaki prefecture, Japan.


●研究の目的 / Objectives

本研究は、地域における生活習慣病に関連した環境要因や遺伝要因を測定するとともに、将来、生活習慣が影響を与えると考えられる疾患の効果的な予防、診断、治療を目的としています。

住民基本健康診査の結果と付加的なアンケート・検査（動脈硬化検査、骨密度検査、リウマチ検査、歯科検査など）の結果、そして健康に関する追跡調査によって、生活習慣が影響を与えると考えられる疾患に関わる危険因子や遺伝子等を見つけ出し、将来の予防や診断、治療に役立てます。

生まれつきの体質（遺伝素因）については、生活習慣が影響を与えると考えられる疾患の発症や重症度、治療への反応性などに関係する遺伝子を網羅的に解析します。


This study aims to assess environmental and genetic factors associated with non-communicable diseases in the community, as well as to prevent, diagnose, and treat such diseases effectively.

We find risk factors related to diseases through the health checkups (examinations of atherosclerosis, bone density, rheumatologic diseases, and dental condition) amd follow-up surveys to use for future prevention, diagnosis, and treatment.

We will analyze genes related to the onset, severity, and response to treatment of diseases comprehensively.

●倫理的配慮 / Ethical considerations

本研究は、既に長崎大学大学院医歯薬学総合研究科の倫理委員会において承認済みである、「地域における生活習慣が影響を与えると考えられる疾患の追跡研究（許可番号14051404）」の枠組みの中で行われ、ヘルシンキ宣言及び人を対象とする生命科学・医学系研究に関する倫理指針に従って実施されます。

研究対象者のうち、参加に関する説明を受けて、全面的あるいは部分的に同意して頂いた方を対象に研究を行います。

研究参加者の個人情報は限られた者が管理し、実際に健診情報、アンケート情報、追跡情報などを研究に用いる際には、どれが誰のものかわからないように、匿名化による個人情報の管理を行います。

研究成果は学術雑誌や学会等で発表されますが、個人が特定される形で公表されることはありません。


This study has been approved by the Ethics Committee of the Nagasaki University Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences (approval number: 14051404), and been conducted in accordance with the Declaration of Helsinki and later amendments.

We recruit the participants who have given their full or partial consent after receiving information on our study.

Personal information of research participants is managed by a limited number of persons, and anonymized when the researchers use their health checkup information, questionnaire, and follow-up information.

Research results will be published in academic journals and conferences, but will not be made public in a form that can identify individuals.
