Our program focuses on controlling tropical and emerging infectious diseases and leadership. In addition to advanced academic training in different fields, and the writing of a dissertation, students receive practical training in a cross-field curriculum, which includes hands-on training at overseas research stations in Kenya and Vietnam with resident university staff as well as other international organizations such as WHO, other overseas collaborating research facilities and NGOs.
Through this program we develop staff with a comprehensive view of tropical and emerging infectious diseases from the molecular level to the operational level of disease control, with the skills to deal with the risks associated with infectious diseases, the knowledge of the unique problems in developing and developed countries, and with international communication skills. Our graduates are expected to play active role as professionals in controlling tropical and emerging infectious diseases and responding to risks. The program will contribute to building a society that ensures peace, safety and security at home and abroad.
